On the afternoon of March 4, 2019, Mr.Jan Lorenc, a famous American designer, delivered an excellent speech, Orchestrating Project Vision and Experience, Which was one of the series of lectures on experiential graphic design organized by the Public Design Research Lab and presided over by Prof. Wu Duan.

Mr. Jan Lorenc has multiple educational backgrounds and design experience in many fields, such as industrial design, architectural design and visual design. His work have won many awards, and he won the SEGD Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. The Lecture shared lots of Jan Lorenc’s classic design works, such as TARGET’s visual image, SONY’s exhibition design, Brookfield’s exhibition design, and introduced his book, What is Display Design, which was translated into seven languages.

Jan’s design works cross the boundaries of professional fields and often integrate all kinds of design categories. In order to create the best place experience, his design works often include visual communication, brand symbols, industrial design, environmental space structures and even architectural forms and facades.And he jokingly said, do not miss the fun of design. During the process of explaining design, Jan emphasized on sharing the multi-disciplinary design methods and ideas, and discussed with D&I’s teachers and students how to maintain an open mind and vision in learning, and how to accumulate the cross-disciplinary design thought and ability.
